I have been overwhelmed by people's generosity when donating both items and money to our trip to Haiti. I remember what each person donated and think of you whenever we hand out what was donated.
Yesterday we brought fresh water into Cite Soleil, the largest slum in Haiti, and Tent City, a place for families displaced from the earthquake and ones who lost their farms in the country. I will only say that I did not have it in me to blog last night, nor did I sleep well last night.
Today we visited the elderly and disabled in Titenyen, the poorest city in Haiti. It translates to "less than nothing." Our first visit was to Izna. We rubbed her legs and arms with lotion, gave her food, sang and prayed with her. I then gave her a turquise dress from my Grandma Marie, who passed away in January. Her joy at getting new clothing was so touching that the emotions from the last two days were more than I could handle.
I feel more honored than ever to be giving out your donations to people of such great need. Thank you!!
Monica
